Ok I pulled the motor and stuff out of my old car and everything else and I was looking at my new one the other day and I just realized its the 1.8L 7AFE engine and I know you said the trans and stuff would all work with the 1.8L even tho I had the 1.6l, but my question is now is will this be a problem like will the trans still work? also will the computer still work since its a 4AFE computer and my new car is a 7AFE? or will I have to find a 7AFE computer from a manual one?
He has a 4AFE and he ended up buying a 7AFE to put in place of the old motor.
Transmission will work, the ECU I'm not sure, if Toyota lists the same ECU for both motors then it will work. Only thing I can see NOT working is if both motors have different sensors, you may need the 7AFE wiring harness if it's different than the 4AFE. I'm sure someone has done it before in here, they just haven't posted yet.
im kinda confused... which motor is going where, i think i remember you saying you bought a chassis and are swapping your good running gear into a donar chassis???

I bought a car with a auto 1.8L and realized it was the 7AFE not the 4AFE I want to just do a tranny swap from auto to manual not a complete engine swap I have everything from my old car, but my old car was a 4AFE so I want to know if I can still swap the ECU from my old car into my new one so basically I want to know if my 4AFE ECU will be able to take the place of the ECU for my the 7AFE car?
ok so I was at the junkyard today and I was looking at acouple prizms just in case I do need a 7AFE computer from a manual prizm, but they were auto too, but I noticed it had the plug for the clutch pedal button that makes able to start it when it is pressed in so I was wondering why would I even need to switch the computers? or is there something else that I need to switch the computers for?
but I still need to know if my 4AFE computer will swap right in with the 7AFE computer if I even need to swap them.
how do I wire the start inhibitor off? and where exactly is that
and I thought maybe I would have to cause my old car that im taking the manual tranny out of was a 1.6l 4AFE engine and my new car that im putting that manual tranny into is a 1.8L 7AFE, so I thought I would also have to swap the ECUs, but wasnt sure if my 4AFE ECU would work in the place of the 7AFE ECU.
