Canada 06 Corolla Shakes

I have a 06 Corolla that shakes starting at 40km's and gets worse the faster you go. It's not the tires/rims, the Toyota dealer has put 2 different sets on my car and same thing and now they are stumped and I'm left with a shaking car. My question is for anyone with a 03 to 07 if you have a vibration in your car on the highway or is it smooth with no vibrations? I'm ready to hand my car back to Toyota because this is a 2 month ordeal we have been going through.

Please let me know if your car has ANY TYPE OF SHAKE/VIBRATION at all, if you want to e-mail me please do so at d_kiesman@hotmail.com

possibly a bad axle. since its an 06 i'm sure its under warranty. Give them the car, get a loaner from them and tell them you don't want it back till its fixed.

Well now I'm stumped, the dealer said that they can't find anything wrong with my car.

**SIGH**

What to do now, drop it off on thier doorstep and take a hit on my credit, trade it in and take a hit in the pocket book or maybe sell it to somwone else and let them deal with the car ???

I really like the Corolla but if it shakes what good is it to me???

How bad does it shake or is it just a vibration. My 05 had a vibration as if somebody was tapping my steering wheel. It got fixed by taking it to a garage that could properly balance the tires.

Try another dealer and get them to check the hub and bearing. As well try calling toyota Canada to see what they will do about it. Tell them the problem with the first dealer see if they have any idea

Can't be tires, the dealer tried two other sets and my tires were rebalanced several times, the head tech was in town and he checked the bearings and the axles and found nothing wrong with them.

Oh well I'm sure it will show up sooner or later, but of coarse thats because the part fell off...

You never answered my question. How bad does it shake. I had my tires balanced 5 times until they got it right. How bad does it shake. My car just felt like somebody was tapping the wheel.

It's not a shake it's a vibration and we had THREE sets of tires and rims on the car and they were all the same. It's not the tires..

Never touched and no pulsing when the brakes are applied, they have never been heated up.

Has any body had a good look at the motor mounts?

And have you used the same road for your road tests after the swappping of the wheels tires?

Has the loaner car that you may have used felt the same or was it smooth on those same roads.?

Something to think about, hope it helps

maybe try the wheel bearings, wheel balancing(even if you think you're convinved it's not the tires) and unless you actually checked your rotors for out of round how do you know for sure cause sometimes you can;t feel it in the brake pedel. could even be a bad tie rod or ball joint remember their not made as good as they use to be...

I'll go ahead and tell you now because I have the same problem.... The serpentine belt tensioner. It is a hydraulic unit that goes bad fairly easily on our model Corolla. I am having mine looked at now. Besides from a little bit of squeeling it make a strange vibration at idle and does it at higher rpms. That is vibration of the tensioner that makes the whole engine shake. That is probably your problem, I am 99% sure of that. The 1ZZ motor in the Corolla is a great motor but their are a few mishaps that it can have, and the tensioner is one of them.
