how to remove rear view mirror corolla '95

I have a corolla 95. THe lever thing seems have gone lose and the damn thing vibrates and makes noise when I idle the car or go at slow speeds. I went to the junk yard and found a replacement. Now I don't know how to remove mine from where it is attached (the roof) If someone can get me started that's be great.

There is a plastic cover where the mirror attaches to the roof. You should be able to pop it open with a flat head screwdriver. Underneath there are 2 screws. Take them out and the mirror comes right off.

I tried doing this

The plastic cover doesn't seem to come off, I mean I don't know from which side I need to pry it out. So, if somebody can post some pictures, that would be really nice.
