Exclamation need more for less!

Hey guys, Im new to this forum, but I need help. I just got a nice little '93 Toyota Corolla and I wanna get some more pick up in it. It's all stock, but the little sucker has balls, It's a 5-speed manual and I can hit 110 in 4th. Due to an increase in the local police for I havent had an opportunity to take it beyond that, yet....But anyways, Im broke, and a newbie gear head and I was wanting to know some cheap, easy ways to add a few horses to my car. So far I've been told that a K&M air filter and reduced size light pullys will add a few horses, but I wanted to get a little more input from more experienced, auto-smart people to know what would add the most horses at the least price. Please get back to me soon cause Im about to have some cash burnin my ass and I dont want to blow it on junk at the auto store . Later...

Intake, Headers, Exhaust and muffler will give you a few extra HP, other than that.. your best bet is to turbocharge.. or do a 20V 4AGE or 4AGZE engine swap.

A K&N filter with a short arm Cold Air Intake is not bad.

You might also want to consider an exhaust and a performcance catalytic converter.

An exhaust manifolt if they make that application for your Rolla!

Good luck and welcome to the board...

take off the bottom of ur air box so ur stock filter is partially exposed....it'll get a lot more air that way and it costs nothing...u wont necessarily have to buy a filter if ur poor.

if ur not in canada and u dont have to do etest, then remove the cat and replace with a test pipe(about 60 dollars)...it'll free up your high end..

take out spare tire, jack, strip whatever u can...less weight=less of a burden for the engine to haul making it more efficient..

if ur nuts, u could try removing the muffler....it will give u mucho more high end power

now if u have money...as mentioned above, go for an air filter...it's very inexpensive. as for paying for exhaust and a header, that will cost u so i dont recommend u go that route unless u got the cash.

if u still got money to burn u could put on some lower profile tires...make sure the whole diameter of ur wheel is smaller when u do this....ur final drive will technically change and u will get better acceleration.

use syntetic oil...the thinner the better...go for 5w30....or if ur nuts, 0w50 if u can find it will reduce the resistance in ur motor and potentially give u lost horses.
