Tach Not working?? 2000 Corolla

Since I discovered this site I thought maybe some of you might help me with a nagging issue.

I have a 2000 Corolla with a 5 spd transmission.

For about the last 2 years the Tach has not worked. It wored on and off for about 2 days then nothing. It would just not work one time, then work another.. almost like a wire was broken

I had one suggestion that it was a fuse, however I checked all the fuses in the engine bay and kick pannel and nothing appears to be out.

I imagine it is an electronic tach, but I have no idea where to start looking.


I have the car in right now getting an O2 sensor (I would have liked to try to do it myself but just couldn't find a good time.

Any suggestions on the Tach? I don't know what else might be relevant info.

2000 Corolla, 5spd, pwr locks, cruise and AC. other than that nothing. 203,000km on it, mostly highway.

any assistance would be appreciated.

Try swapping clusters and see what happens...
