how long does the average 4AFE last? mine has 140000 on it right now. always has regular maintanence i have never hit redline as far as i know. i dont have a tach but i will be getting a new gauge cluster pretty soon..maybe like christmas..also for christmas im getting an engine hoist and engine stand

Well, my 4AF in my 88 Corolla so far has 232000 miles and not showing any signs of weakness, other than a puff of blue smoke occasionally on startup. Take care of the engine, do regular maintenance and change that timing belt and you should easily be able to double the mileage you have on it now.

My first 4A-FE was running great except for the beginnings of a BHG at 198,000 miles. My second 4A-FE blew its headgasket quite violently at 230,000 miles. Other than that, they were strong

if you take care of those engines and dont abuse them, they will last a looong time, i recall my dads got to around 220,000 km before we sold it, and it was still running good.
