Advice for XRS in Winter

I have an XRS i bought in SEPT 04 while i was looking for a base model. I test drove it and was hooked. I am married with 2 kids so buying an expensive sports car was out of the question. This car is insane.. i love it.. But i live in CT and this is my second winter with it and i wanted some advice on what kind of rims and tires i should put on it..

Also, what minor and inexpensive mods can i make without going too crazy. I am not huge car enthusiasts like some of you seem...

Thanx

For winter, winter tires, studded if law doesnt prohibit, if law says no, studless, they're better than any all-season tire.

I have BF Goodrich winter slaloms that I put on for 4 months in the winter for snow. They get the job done. However, be prepared for a BIG difference in how car feels. The soft tires make the car lose the tightness in corners, it will feel floaty and with short gearing (1st, 2nd and 3rd), it is easy to break traction off the line (especially now with some basic mods, it is even worse). I cannot already to put my stock Michelins back on.
