Hey guys, I live in London, Ontario, and I'm planning on swapping my ae82 4ac+auto for a silvertop+auto in about a month or so. Going the auto route wasn't exactly my first choice, but since this is my first swap, I decided to keep it simple. I already got a quote for a ae101 front cut (auto) and shipping, which is a really good deal.
Anyways, I wondering what kind of fuel system you would recommend. The car will need new lines, and a new pump (since I'm changing over from the low fuel psi of the carb). Since it's the original tank, and it's getting pretty rusty I figured I might remove it, and go with a fuel cell setup in the trunk (Summit Racing sells a line of cells, and they're pretty affordable, plus I can make this an even lighter car) and then running braided lines to the engine. Summit sells a kit with their fuel cells with a pump but it's for low psi carb'd applications. So what do you guys think of the whole fuel cell idea? Any recommendations otherwise? And what would you recommend as a fuel pump to work with the fuel cell+silvertop?
The fuel pump in a ST setup is the same as in the late model AE100's. I had this problem when i thought my st was running lean and went to the toyo dealer to get a new pump.
All you will need is a fuel pump from a 4afe and a tank if you want to have an internal fuel pump. Braided lines really arent that big a deal if you dont want it.
BTW - If you want to go aftermarket as in fuel cell setup - 48psi is fine for the ST...

What's a "good deal" in your area? You can pretty much buy a bare motor in the Toronto area for about $400, there's also someone on corollacustomz selling a complete Silvertop (I believe) for about $1000, I think he's gone even lower now.
I'm only two hours away from T.O, but no one in London I've found carries anything for me. I got a couple quotes from places in T.O that were all steady around 1000$ for a complete assembly. Osaka Motors said 1200$ shipped. The half cut I got quoted with was for 1300$ US shipped, so it's not much of a price gap. I just haven't found someone in our area with a 20V with an auto assembly. If you guys know anywhere that does let me know. I figure for the 150$ extra I'd pay for a halfcut I'll atleast get some jdm parts to sell or use.

Lol I just realized that silvertop is in London, and for 800$...lol is it still for sale? I emailed him but I'm waiting for a reply.
lol it'll get a good home. I'm not sure if it'll be my ae82 or not, but it'll be a good home. The biggest worry I have for the swap is going a/t to m/t. I'm gonna go to the wreckers soon and see if they have anything I can use. You know if the ae92 clutchtrain parts will fit with little or no mods? It'll be alot easier then finding the ae82 parts then, but I've never done this before.
what axles should I use? and what rad should i use? lol it's so damn hard to find parts for a ae82 in London. I don't know about you guys, but the wreckers here don't have any. If anybody happens to see ae82 with a manual tranny in the wreckers or something let me know . I'm probably gonna just grab the parts from a ae92. I guess I'll see what happens.
What else should I do to the engine before the swap? It's coming with a new timing belt and thermo still in the packages, what else should i check. First thing I'll be buying is a new clutch, what do you guys recommend?
AE82 axels will work fine. Auto and manual are the same.
Any 5sp gearbox will bolt straight in (be careful of which side the starter is on though)
The difference on the radiator is the top hose. On silvertops its in the center of the top tank. I believe ae82 have it to one side. You could probably make up a hose to suit though.
I would change leads, plugs, dizzy cap, water pump + the other things you mentioned.
