Turn Signal Trouble

Lately I have been having problems with my turn signal. When I turn my turn signal on, it works just fine, but when I want to turn it off the clicking sound keeps going at an even faster pace then when the signal is on. When the turn signal is in the off position, the lights are also off, but the clicking sound keeps going. I was told that this is not a fuse problem, because if it was, the turn signals would not be working. This problem also seemed to get worse as time went on. At first, the clicking sound would stay on for a few seconds after using the turn signal, but now, it is almost on constantly (which can be very annoying). It also sometimes turns the left turn signal on, randomly, even if the turn signal is in the off position. I'm not exactly sure if this is something I can fix on my own, but any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I was looking more into this problem and I found that it might be the turn signal relay. Is there a way I can test this myself to make sure that this is the problem before purchasing the part?

Get one from a junkyard and test it out. Also, ever think about it being the actual blinker switch itself. (the arm on the side of the steering wheel)?

The power to the turn signals may also go through the hazard light switch. Might check this switch also. The turn signal blinker unit should be a low cost item.
