Odd jerking in a old corolla.

i was driving my m8's old corolla (i dont know what year) i think it is in the 1970's+ i think it mite be a 1975 or something. every time i take off i get a jurk and when i back off it jerks and when i put my foot back on the gas it jerks. what is causing this? I put it up on a hoist today and the universal's look and feel in good condition, but my Automotive teacher said it could be the bairings in the diff or something. can anyone help me? PLEASE!!!

Engine and transmission mounts are a likely culprit. Has somebody been bashing on the poor thing? The motor mounts on my dad's old Biscayne were broken after some horsing around.

It could also be that the fuel filter is so dirty that it spurts gas rather than spraying it. worth the shot to check it out.
