Check for spark and if none, work your way back through the ignition system. Areas to look at are the coil, igniter, distributer cap, etc. A TN history search will result in many threads about this cleaning then no start issue.

Did you cover the distributor and the alternator? Check all connections in the engine compartment and make sure nothing is loose or unplugged....

The car will not start. Do you mean the starter wont spin, or the engine wont turn or the engine will not fire, or something else?

The engine spins but will not fire up. How do I go about drying these components. I appreciate the many posts so far.

whenever i wash under the hood i always put a plastic bag over the distributor.
the most important thing.

check your distributor again. take the cap off and let it air dry. or if you
have a air gun hit it a few time to evaporate the water.
also check your spark plug tubes. sometimes the wires don't hold
a good enough seal and water gets in.
just make sure everything is dry especially all electrical components.
it should start back up.

yea..water..even a little bit in the spark plug holes will mess the car up..i had a lil bit in cylinder #4 and it kept misfiring and i had to get a shop vac with a crevice attachment to get it them i had to cram paper towels down it to get it out...then i let it air dry the rest of the day..good thing it was 80 degrees out then

Check the spark coming from the coil itself. If no spark, check the wiring and harness plugs to coil, igniter, etc.

a. Let it sit for a few days till the motor dries off.

b. Get a Shop Vac and either vacuum the water out OR use the blower feature to dry off the motor(may take a while).

A combination of b+a worked for me, took maybe a couple of days till the car started fine.
