I have the ability to purchase a new 06 XRS Corolla....it has 75KM on it as it was sold as a fleet car, but supposedly returned...hence the 75KM (this is the dealers excuse). The dealer wants $23500.00 or about, BUT I was thinking of offering $23000.00 plus getting them to throw in all season mats, a trunk liner and the hood bug deflector...all for free. Even with that the total will be about $28000.00. I know the American's on the boards just had there jaws drop over the price but ya...this is what they are selling for up here in Canada...actually there are 4 XRS's left. The standard cost with out negotiating or the 3 options I added would be about $29600.00 and that's with everything in...Taxes, handling.....anyway, what you guys think? I would be interested in hearing from fellow Canadians that bought the XRS and what they actually paid for it....dam Toyota, they won't budge on the price and this car has been sitting on there lot for the past 7 months. I actually know the Sales Manager personally and he tells me they are paying $200.00 a month to hold the car......

Yeah some of them sound too steep. In Canada, I got my XRS right on MSRP (24k) + GST. My friend got a better deal 4-5 months on a brand new 06 XRS with $1500 off MSRP + iPod interface + free oil changes for life. I live in Calgary since you have PST over there as well so it sounds about right for the brand new one's. I have seen some ridiculous prices on used XRS.
As for the used 2006 one, with 75K miles in just one year sounds pretty steep. I hope you are talking about out the door. If that is the case then it is a decent deal. I have a 2005 and I am not even close to half of that in mileage. The Canadian blue book value for my 2005 XRS is 20k right now. There is another issue of how the previous owner treated the car. You will have to be very careful to get the clutch, transmission etc. inspected. Otherwise, 21k for a 2006 would be a good price. Then again, remember the mileage is too high for just one year. 75K should bring the price down to between 18 - 20k.
I find it hard to believe they are not willing to negotiate. They would definitely want to get that car off the lot and if they know you are a serious buyer, they would be willing to reduce the price since they can get the car off the lot, which is depreciating sitting on the lot anyway.

ghost_ryder35, did you even read my entire post? In the US you guys can steal a Toyota for what we pay for it up here.....it sounds crazy but Toyota openly states that the Canadian market will pay (and does) the higher cost....and we even build them here...
silver04rollas, I made a typo...it has only 75KM, not 75000KM...so it's got approximately 45 miles on it.....

So it is almost brand new then. Canadian 22 - 23k before taxes on an XRS is a good deal. That is how much I got my Corolla S for. The sticker for XRS was $1500 over that. If you can get it, I say go for it.

Silevr04rollas, yes it's brand new...I mean what's 75KM!!!!! BUT that's the angle I will use to negociate price, for if the title of the car changed, it's used, if the title didn't change then it's a demo....either way I hope they go for it....they are hard on price....

75 KM hardly qualifies for a demo. My XRS had over 100 KM when I took delivery. My friend's XRS had 40 KM on his when he took delivery. So 75 KM is almost brand new.

You can probably find one for about $18,000CDN or so, keep looking dude they want too much.
BTW, AMERICA is the continent, the name of the country is the United States of AMERICA.. not America, there's North America, South America, Central America, add them all up and you get... take a guess... America.
when i got my 03 corolla and got it used from the dealer with 3200 miles on it. that is still new.
it just depends on how you act towards the dealer. i walked out the door with the car for $16000 with all season mats, and a trunk liner (those 2 for free).
Just want to say thanks to all you offered advise....purchased the last new 06 Black XRS in Ontario last night...and got all the options I wanted for free.....so i am quite happy....still dam expensive for a Corolla....hope it lives up to it's expectations.

Congratulations on your ride. There is no doubt that you would enjoy the heck out of this car. My XRS cost only $1500 more than my loaded 04 Corolla S (comparing both brand new) so it is a steal for this price considering it has so many upgrades suspension, brakes, wheels, interior and powertrain wise.
