Or if you wanna be ballsy and go thru the trouble of doing the conversion (which involves custom made bellhousings) then you can go with a W series transmission from the older Celicas/Supras.
Lots of people have done this conversions, SEARCH is your friend.. Google is also your friend.
if i'm not mistaken the Dori-Kaze guys are using adaptor plates to meet the W tranny to A engines. TOYCOOLROLLA sells the custom bellhousing from the Philippines. HTH

As far as I know, the 4A only had the weak T50 gearbox for RWD cars.
The 4A-GZE only came in FWD cars.
I read somewhere that the A and C (diesel) series engine had the same bellhousing bolt pattern.
**IIIIIIIIFFFFFF** this is true, then a bellhousing and gearbox (W55/56/57/58) from something like a CT140/CT141/CT147 Corona Diesel (circa 1982-1985) should be suitable.
Can somebody confirm that A and C series engines have the same bellhousing bolt pattern?
Is the 4A-GZE an alternative to your 3S-GTE idea?
I would use the 3S-GTE.
It's a newer design, bigger capacity and easier (4A-GZE distributor hits firewall, 3S-GTE distributor doesn't).
But if you really want the 4A-GZE, people in the Maylasian club I told you about have put the 4A-GE (non turbo) into the 74 Celica plenty of times.
ahh ic. yah im still thinking on what to put in my celica.. 3SGTE is easier and more powerful than the 4AGZE but.. it more expensive!!!! hehehe. im stil thinking about it really.. coz i dont have enough money for the 3STGE, but i think ill just save up for the 3SGTE.. hehe. thx for all ur advice.. hehe...
