89 corolla problem help please

i have a 89 corolla 4af . i was driving out of my driveway and it just stopped and locked up, i can't move. i tried all gears even neutral and it still doesn't move. i think the problem could be caused by no oil in the differential case. i recently changed the driveaxles and i think it leaked out all the oil, but i did put transmission oil. is it split into two? my transmission could be screwed. i had to lift the front with a jack and push it out of the way. what you think?

why did the fluid leak out? that could very well be your problem. It wont even move in neutral? Definetly sounds like something locked up, if there is no fluid in the tranny that could of popped a pin out of the tranny and locked it in gear, and or the axel poped out of the tranny. check it out and let us know

Running the transmission out oil may have caused a clutch pack, brake or bearing to seize up. Seeing how the trans seems to still be binding a little may mean trouble in the future. From what happened to you, it could be the diff and trans oil systems are interconnected. Keep an eye out for leaking fluid.

Yeah, theres a real good possiblity that one of the problems may be NO fluid in the transmission. "I think it leaked out" You dont know if your tranny is leaking? When you changed the drive axles did you check or refill the missing fluid?

yeh....when refilling your tranny leave the oil can in the sun... it makes the oil runnier meaning it will slip though all the craks better...

is there a oil seal at the eng of the cv axles going into the differential? bcoz it's leaking oil from both ends. i think all the oil drained out from there.

Hey knox, not being funny but there has to be a seal at the tranny end otherwise you will leak gear oil or ATF (whichever you have). You should have a rubber boot near the splines that go into the transmission. There is a thread on here about installation of the CV axles. When you did your installation did you "tap" your axle back into the tranny, or just set it in place? There is a clip on the cv axle that has to sort of snap into place. You might be better off getting a shop manual and really spending some time looking at what and how your car is suppose to be put together. That way you will know next time what to look for. Good Luck, I hope you get it fixed.
