05 Corolla Tranny Fluid Change

Peeps,

I read the service schedule over 2 times and nowhere did I see when to change the transmission fluid on the 05 corolla.

Can anyone advise when Toyota advises to change the tranny fluid on this year corolla??

Thanks.

Toyota uses a long life fluid. It has scheduled intervals for fluid inspection but none for fluid changes. From what I understand the dealer has a color chart to compare the cars fluid to. If the fluid is too dark as per the chart it needs changing.

There has been a lot of discussion on other TN Toyota model forums about when to change this long life fluid. You might do a history search. The figure that comes up a lot is 30K miles. Who knows how long this long life fluid lasts. Unfortunately dirty, overheated and warn out fluid is the leading cause of transmission failure. Under Toyota’s maintenance plan, the fluid will most likely be first changed long after the warranty has expired.

Thanks, that would explain why there is nothing in the guide about it.

To play it safe I will have it changed at 30K. My wife does not drive it that hard and she takes it easy but better to maintain that to replace.

Very sneaky of toyota though.

I did a search and did not find anything in this forum??

I would change it every 30,000 miles. Like changing your motor oil every 3,000 miles. Better safe than sorry.
