I had the same problem with my SR5. The only things I could do was upgrade the filter to a K&N and take off the top of the breather cover and add a set of headers. I would not recommend removing the breather cover alltogether because it will smoke like a siv. I tried. If you are interested, I have a set of headers and a K&N filter for that motor, hell I've got a complete engine I need to get rid of.
Ya know at a car show once I saw a Suzuki Samauri Jeep 4x4 with a 4AF engine. It had a pair of WEBER carbuetors that looked like 4 individual throttle bodies. The head was polished and had chrome headers. It was sweet. I knew immediately it was a 4AF, the owner said only a few people figured it out. This engine has a lot of potential and I find it easier to work with than the 4AGE. It's more forgiving in labor and parts compared to the other engine but the extra 30 HP you get from the GTS engine is the trade off.
On my SR5 I put the 4-2-1 chrome headers, a simple CAI, and Pacesetter exhaust and I picked up an easy 20 HP. I waisted my clutch running it hard. It's was worth the $450.00 dollars I invested in it.
If OBX is too much mula....the 4-2-1 chrome header works fine.
It will be hard to find a Carb conversion for the 4AF. I was told that thy made a kit but was told WRONG. Paradise racing is one of the foremost toyota experts on the east coast, and they have upgrades for just about everything, but not the 4AF. Now, if you can find a good machine shop to do the work, you can put just about anything on it you want. But there aren't any kits from what I've found out there. That's why I'm doing a silvertop swap right now. It's a major headache with all the wiring, but I feel it will be worth it in the long run.

Like this?
One advice, stop looking around for a ready made kit... theres not many of them, make your own stuff.
very similar.... it had an oval hole on the firewall and the carbs had 4 trumpet horns. I hoping one day I would get the there a WEBERed powered 4AF. Hey Flashman, How was it the first time you ran it???
@ Flashman. What exhaust branch you got there. Is it a 4-1 or 4-2-1 and how thick is it. Looks like a 38mm from what I can see. BTW nice clean looking engine bay.

Hi. Do you have a pic of your setup? I'd like to see how you ran your CAI.
