No power from alternator

Hi I have a couple of qs... here's the history... I've just replaced the alternator with a rebuilt one, when installed it worked fine. Now it seems that I'm not getting any power from it when the car's running. When I turn on the headlights the car stalls. Had the battery tested and it's ok.

1. a working alternator should produce 13-14 volts, is this correct?
2. could it be the laternator yet again?
3. one of the small wires coming off the plug was broken, fixed it... read that these are just for the idiot lights... could this be a prob?

Thanks

Sylvain

Could be the alternator again. Take it back to who ever reparied it and get them to test it.

Even if you did it your self, most places will test for free. (at least over here anyway)

get a volt meter and see. put it on your battery while your car is running and see how many volts you got. if you got less than 13 you need a alternator.
also make sure you check all your connections. make sure they are clean and tight.

To be honest any of it could be the problem. Check this: Turn on the headlights first, yeah first. Just try it. Now, start the car. Did it stay running? While its running turn off the headlights and then back on and it will cut off again......

Try your heater/blower switch on high and let me know what you get.
