what to do with a 4age???

i got a hold of a 5 speed manual 1992 Geo Prizm GSi. I know that the engine, 4a-ge, and the chassis, ae92, are the same as the corollas. I don't know if there is any other difference between them and i wanna know what this geo is capable of. Anybody got any tips or ideas of what to do with it and what parts i should get?

when you look for parts.... it will be listed as a "smallport 4age" or "4age with knock sensor in block"

easiest and quickest (and cheap) way to get some more power is to use an early bigport 4age set of cams (but the shims need to be checked before you run it)

^^^the cams must be from a "bluetop" 4age, the redtop bigports got the same cams as the smallports.

That depends on what you want to do with it. You run it, or build it as needed.

here in the US that is NOT true...... the early bigport (ie 85/86) had the largest durations & lifts.... the redtop bigports were slightly smaller, and the smallports were noticeably smaller

I have access to the toyota EPC.

There were only ever 2 types of cams for the 16v 4age. The big early ones, and the smaller later ones.
This includes the GZE's they have the small cams.

I think by saying he wants "to run it" he meant race it.

Right.....

What sort of racing??
For most types the engine should be the last thing on your list.
(as long as its halft decent like a 4age)

First make it safe, then make it turn, then make it stop, then you can make it go.

You want to autocross? You will need to upgrade other things, just make sure your engine runs well. You can build the engine as you go.

you want a handout, i think most of us only give a hand up. go do your own research, start at google and then go into some other forums around the internet. there is NO shortage of information out there, just have to be willing to look for it for yourself.
