AE86 acting strange

I was driving along peacefully on friday, and it was raining. i go to change the station on my radio, and i look up and i hit a huge puddle. i was a few metres from the gas station where i was going to fill up, so i filled up and i started to go...

and i get nothing, then, i get power, then nothing. so its kind of like a jerking in acceleration.

BTW i hit the puddle HARD, the panel for the ecu is off and i got hit in the face with water! (all windows closed) the ecu was wet. i went back home and dried the ecu, and it sorta fixed it. theres not really a jerkiness, but i have little or no TVIS.

im thinking i dislodged the fuel pump connection or made it malfuction or whatever.

Does anyone know what my problem is?
Thanks

the jerkiness might be water on the electronics. just make sure everything is dry. whether or not you can hit a puddle hard enough to dislodge a fuel pump, well, that sounds a little extreme.

how did water get into the car?

Most likely water got splashed up on your motor and wet the dizzy. Pull the cap off and use some compressed air or that ignition drying spray from Canadian Tire.

I don't see how your ECU got wet tho. I've got a spare kicking around if you need one.

I hit a puddle once too. It dislodged the wheel well liner and it was bent up and rubbing against the tire. I still don't have a mud flap on that side because it got ripped out when I hit the water and left a huge rusty hole so I could not screw it back in

if you saw my car, youd see how water got in the car. Yeah, the car is now dry, so the remnants of water on the ecu are gone. the problem is still there. i guess the dizzy may have been wet. ill check it out. thanx!

Take a hair dryer and go over the electronics of the motor. water on the plugs could also cause these kinda problems.
