Check vavlve clearance @ 60K miles?

My 04' is closing in on 60K. Tha manual says to check valve train at this interval.
The lifters are quiet. Should I still have them checked? Oil is changed every 3K.

Cool

I don't think so, but how long is it before they say have the timing belt replaced?

Lifters should not have to be adjsted as they are hydraulic (as far as I know they are...) correct me if I am wrong...

A car with solid lifters would need checked once in a a while.. mine have 300,000 miles on them and no adjustments have been necessary..

Retiredat44, the later Corollas use a timing chain and not a belt.

Owner's Manual lists valve clearance to be checked at 60K.
That tells me they are solid lifters.

Toyota seems to list check valve clearance as standard on many later (1999+ish) model cars at 60K. Never heard of Toyota factory adjusted engine using valve shims to burn a valve. If you are going the Toyota service plan route with all the items they list, see what they charge with and without checking the valves. If an automatic, might think about getting the fluid inspected as per scheduled. Many people just have it changed.

Cool

Yeah, I was walking my dog today, after Posted about solid and hydraulic lifters, and realized the dumb mistake I made , and then said oh, oh !, I gotta get back and correct my dumb mistake... I was thinking about the v6 and v8 engines..not the overhead cams and solids..., and what lucky people to have timing chains again, the belts really suck... but I do have to say I haven't had my valve clearance adjusted on mine since about 100,000 miles was on the engine and now has 300,000 on our 1989 Corolla SR5. It's running great...

The 1zzfe engine uses solid "Bucket type" lifters. The valve clearance WILL NOT loosen up on these engines, it will only tighten. If it gets to tight you run the risk of burning a valve and needing a head job. This means ALOT more money than a valve adjustment job.

I would HIGHLY recommend having the valve lash checked. Its like your buying an insurance policy.
