Canada "fuel Door Will Not Open"

I need help, I have a Corolla 2005, and cannot open the fuel door, I do not want to force it, might break something, tried the search and the manuals, I guess it is so easy that they did not even place it there or it might just be the freezing temperature we are having here in B.C. Thank you in advance.

Probably frozen. Pour some warm water over it or a hairdryer on low speed

Do you know if the cable is broken? If the cable isnt broken, I would have to agree with Papa Bear, although warm coffee will work too, just make sure you add a touch of milk for flavor of course.

Thanks to Papa Bear and diver9000 (Home of Delta Airline), for their quick reply, I finally got it opened, I pour some boiling water from the perculator, the door was all ice around. I have to fill it up, have to work tonight. Thanks again.

Do be careful.... We all know what can happen when hot water and ice mix. You could break something.

Absolutely!! People try and get their doors open in winter by pouring hot water on the gap where the door shuts and end up breaking windows and such!!!

I washed my 03 the other day and went to fill up with gas. It was very very cold apprx 10 degrees and the gas door wouldnt open. I ended up bring it home and turned on the furnace in the garage and it thawed it out. I have never had a car with a gas door that is this temperamental. I learned my lesson. No more car washes when its very cold outside. I have 213,000 miles on it and she's still running strong.
