If its like my 4age, there is a belt tensioner on the lower right corner of all the pulleys. You need to loosen it before anything will move. The tensioner has a vertical bolt, and will allow the tensioner to raise and lower.

keep in mind the adjustment is not on the pump. Its below it.. if you have a fwd like mine than as soon as you pull the right front wheel you will see the tensioner on the lower right side. Give me your email address and I will send you a picture since I cant seem to post pics in here.

If you cant find a way to resolve this or you cant get a good answer, I would ask Flashmn. If there is a way to do it he will most likely know it.

Did you loosen the bolt (from the front) where that black wire passes over the bracket where you can see the nut welded on the back? Loosen that bolt and another bolt diagonal to it which is on the lower part of mounting bracket and then pull the pump assembly toward the front of car. The belt should come right off.

Thanks GP,,,,,,,,,,,,I was missing the lower bolt you mention, no wonder it would not budge.

In typical Haynes fashion of course they never mention this bolt in the manual!!!!!!
