Replacing wing mirror glass

Hi,

Yesterday I found someone had stolen the driver-side wing mirror glass from my '94 corolla. Can someone tell me whether it's possible just to buy a replacement mirror glass and fit it back?

Just get a new mirror online or a used one from a junkyard... Pop the interior black cover off and there's three screws... Very easy to do..

Newbie212,

Do you mean a new mirror glass or a complete wing mirror (with housing)?

if its just the mirror glass it is possible to replace i would advise you to make slits in the rubber surround in the corners before you try to put the new glass in...

I meant the whole housing.. Sorry... It would save you alot of time and its not too expensive.. I replaced just the glass before and when I was doing 70mph down the highway it always wiggled a little bit... Always gave me a headache... Hope this helps!

Thanks Guys.

Looking at some replcement glass, they are used to stick over the existing broken glass (which I no longer have). So a new unit it is then.

Thanks.

if you still have the black plastic pad the glass sat on (its just bigger than the glass) just stick on the cheap replacement glass to the pad, if they took that too call around to some of those "japanese used auto parts" places they will have a used one or a cheap aftermarket one!

If you don't have the plastic pad the glass sits on, the only option is for a completely new mirror assembly. (Found this out the hard way...) There's no separate part listing that Toyota has for the plastic plate, and if you have a power mirror there's no way to get the replacement glass piece to mate up to the gears without the plate...or some mad custom fab work without having the original as reference.

...Don't ask how I know this.
