Installing AC in my 2004

I bought my car brand new and absolutely bar-bones and of course, skipped on the AC. Big mistake that. Can anyone hook me up with a) the part list and a supplier (maybe Toyota direct, maybe aftermarket, maybe something else) and b) the instructions.

Thanks in advance...

Doonie

maybe go to a wrecking yard and grab the parts... I believe your wiring should be in place,, except maybe the inside switch and maybe some relays...

if you get the parts form a wrecking yard.... Small partsl like switches... relays, and wiring.. etc... there are also some othe rparts tha tidle the engine up witht he a/c on.. you wil need those.. take a digital camera and a notepad too..

also, on eBay, you can get a new compressor with clutch for less than $100 USD shipped
the condensor is also very cheap ($100 USD and the condensor maybe $150 USD complete).. get these new.. but you will need the tubes and hoses new....... but the nuts and bolts, you will need so just get those at the wrecking yard...

you wil need the evaporator... goes with next to the heater passenger side.. get that new too cause it had the expansion valve.. I think the newer Toyotas still use an expansion valve.. correct me if I am wrong..)

----

Best Choice:
Second choice.. go the an a/c after market installl shop.... if you don't have time, but have money, that's your best option... by far..

------------

even after you install of it, it takes some specialized tools to charge it and get the mixture right of oil and refridgerant... using vacuum and pressure gauges.. for that alone a shop can charge $200 USD.

good luck..

In my opinion go to a shop and have aftermarket put in. Money spent is trouble saved down the line. If you do not do it yourself right, you will have a non working AC or partially working AC with leaks etc etc.

Something like this should be left to professionals unless you are well versed in this area of car work.

At least you will get some type of warranty from the shop. Do it yourself, you are on your own!!

Doonie trust me when I say I love doing things myself as well for my autos but certain things us tinkerers just have to leave to the pros.

Let us know $$ and how it comes out should you decided to go with them.
