Hey y'all. Just yesterday my car started making this weird noise. When I gently apply throttle, as the engine speed passes 1500 RPM, there is a single click heard from under the passenger side of the hood. If the pedal is released, there is a similar click as the engine speed passes 1500 RPM on the way down. This happens regardless of the car being in gear or not. It only started yesterday, but I'm pretty sure this happens only when the engine is cold, as it goes away after about 10 minutes of driving.
Upon closer inspection the click may be coming from the part of the cruise control that regulates the throttle (I have SCS/Frigette aftermarket cruise control, installed when I got the car 11 years ago, but it still works fine to this day, although I haven't tried it since the clicking started).
Disconnecting some random wires that attach to the cruise control module didn't affect anything. However, I noticed that when I put my weight on or applied some pressure to the body panel shown by the red arrow (top of the passenger fender)(thereby possibly dampening some vibration???) and then modulating the throttle, the clicks stopped.
Anyway what I'm asking is has anyone had this problem before? I'm not 100% sure if its the cruise control or not so is there anything else that could be making this clicking noise?
