2001 Corolla, Auto/Manual Conversion and Lots of other Goodies *PICS*
Jerry decided to go with the 5-speed ECU instead of the resistor hack that I normally use. I didn't know this ahead of time (or I would have charged more!), but in the '01 the automatic ECU uses the newer style 4-plug setup and the manual uses the older style 3-plug setup. Weird huh? I had to repin EVERY SINGLE WIRE that goes to the ECU into the new plugs:
Then I went about installing the master cylinder. This install is a breeze in the Toyota Celicas, but in the Corolla it's EXTREMELY hard. There's just a tiny bit of room to get in there with a 90-degree drill adapter.
Calipers painted red, backing plates and rotor centers painted black (the black on the braking surface will be cleaned off after using the brakes the first few times).
Dr Tweak Custom CAI (waiting on AEM Dryflow Filter and Air Bypass Filter)
how much would a auto to manual cost? i was thinking of doing that ..but then i didnt know if i should just get a another one with a manual tranny instead..
Yeah it really does depend on how attached you are to your car and what you already have into it. Typically including all parts and labor you're looking at about $1950 using stock parts. This customer decided to go with a Fidanza flywheel, TRD short shifter, high performance clutch kit, etc, so it was more.
i crashed my corolla 06 and the insurance company gave me 2k to reinstall the airbag, i couldve just copped a new steering wheel the same as that and it only wouldve cost me 600??!!
