Out of an airplane?

Oh it was about lowering, not dropping it... ok, coilovers are good, but I dont think you'll get a good set of springs and shocks for 700bucks.

Can you install springs yourself? (since you asked how to lower a car, i'll guess no)
Do you want to learn how? (Again from your post, probably not)

So, take it to a shop and ask them.

My TRD lowering springs cost just under $400NZ and took me about 3 hrs to put in.
You can lower a car for $700US.

But how low do you want it, can you install springs yourself?

"lower" my car
"what" is
"anyone"

And I agree with Flashmn, but you have $700 so instead get yourself a set of Tein springs plus install and you might have enough left to get a coffee and some books.

Or for even less effort just let you tyres down, that should lower it a fair bit.

whatever....... i've owned cars with cut springs and it's not as bad as everyone says..... the biggest problem is that when they get cut (especially if cut in the wrong place) it can be dangerous to have a less flat portion sitting on the perch...

hell, i have a friend with an 89 mr2 with cut springs (good struts) and has one of the fastest auto-x cars in the local club.....

I'd have to agree. I'd never do it now, cos I can afford to it properly.
But I've driven a few cars (ke70's) with cut springs and they handle better than standard. (as long as they are captive.)

Depends on how low you want to go, your daily driving habits and what you want to do.

I've gone from OEM, to Eibach's, to Tein S-Techs. If you don't want to get coil-overs ( a worthy investment), you could opt for lowering springs, which are cheap.

Here is a chart for you, to see what each spring will lower your car by
TEIN S-tech: (front)2.32" (rear)2.4"
TEIN H-tech: (f)1.73" (r)1.81"
TEIN SS adjustables: (f)1.14" - 3.03" (r)1.54" - 3.8"
Sprint: (f&r)1.75"
Progress: (front)1.8" (rear)1.7" (settles at about 2.2")
Hotchkis: (front)1.75" (rear)1.5"
TRD: (front)1.25" (rear)1.25"
Eibach Pro front)1.1" (rear)1.1"
Eibach Sportlines: (front)2.1" (rear)1.75"
H&R sports: (front)1.25" (rear)1.25"
H&R race: (front)2.0" (rear)2.0"

---------------------------- here is my experience

I live in Canada, where there is snow and crap..and at first i was too chicken to lower it. then i though man..the car look soo dumb, cause its sits so high..a car with nice rims and a 4" gap is not hott at all. so i played it cautious and got the eibachs which only lower the car an inch or so...i liked it andd all but it wasn't satisfying enough. I would always look at it, and go..humm is it lowered..i dunno..i guess u couldn't really tell it was lowered until u parked next to a corolla...so then i was like screw this and went down to s-techs which dropped the car to about 2.4" and all i can say is ..crap..it looks smokin.. all i have to say is as far as cheap drop goes...go for tein s-techs i think you will be satisfied once you do.

that's what s-techs look like on my car

it is a bit more bumpier of course, but not by much. It's hard to tell because my car was first lowered about 2-3 months after i bought it, so i can't remeber what the oem springs felt like...but i can tell you know that lowering springs will feel way better than coilovers. My buddy has tein ss coilovers..and those do a number on ur butt..its really bumpy..

but imo..the ride is tolerable. handling is superb though....the car doesn't feel like its going to rollover on a tight turn.

if ur worried about ride, you could stick to h-techs...i've heard ppl dub it as "the ride of luxury"..lol

cheers,
good luck
