and i was looking to get some aftermarket rims in 15x6.5 or 15x7...problem is that i dont know what offset to run. my OEM alloys with 185/60 comes really close to the rear strut casing right now...and OEM rim is 5.5 inch wide only....
ahmed, what offset u got?

No, stock offset is +45 with a 5-5.5" rim
With my 15x7"'s I'm running an offset of (If I remember correctly) +38. I got 3mm of space between my tire and the strut tube.. yes it IS CLOSE and it WILL rub when cornering (195/55R15 tires). But I dont have a problem with the fender, its not bent up and theres no scratching on the tires from them.
Plus I'm running a 2" Front and 1.8" back drop
Hello
W/ a 6.5 rim you can run stock offset (+39) w/ 195 tires.
If you want alittle more clearance for some 205's or 7" rims go w/ a +32 that will keep you from rubbing.
Big probblem w/ our AE92's is most of the wheel market caters more towards the offset of the Honda's.
Hope this helps C-YA!!

uhhh maybe sedans are 45 offset?
but i am certain that mine are not 45 offset....i ran 45 offset civic steelies for winter and those were so tucked inside the wheel wells....so ugly. now with oem alloys they stick out more.
it's +39, i'm certain... +38 and ur rubbing, i could have told u that i want an offset that wont rub! nooooooo

Well the rims are supposedly 15x6.5" according to the manufacteurer but I wonder why its says 15x7J on the rim itself ;P oh well, and the offset is 38.
if your planning to track this car, run a 15x7 so you can strap on 205/50/15. as for offset, just do a test fit ! im pretty sure a +42/+40 will be fine ! runnig a +35 would make it look more flush to the wells ! just get a +40, if it rubs get spacer plates !
again, if you track the car, get some KOSEI K1's they have the size 15x7 with either a +45 or a +35 your choice. and also they are super light !
stock wheels usually come with a high offset due to the skinny width of the wheel like a 5.5. companies do that to save on cost. they usually put on the widest tyres they can on the skinniest wheels they can make ! so the offset will be high so they dont stick out too much (and also they wont make the steelwheel lower version of the car look all that silly). most companies want to make the wheels look as sunk in as the steel versions ! hence the high offset. steel wheels have VERY high offsets ! just cause of the fenders for the rear !most cars dont have flared fenders on the rear. again cost, but mainly its style.
my guess with a AE92, get a 7" width running a +40 will be fine !!! but if you run a 6.5width go +42 ! your fine ! just do a test fit !
but i know that ae92 is the exception to the rule.....7inch wide wheels will not fit if i run 40 offset.....i'll test fit some 35 or so and see
and i never ever want to run 205/50...cos those are too tall....car has too little torque as it is. i'm looking more towards 195/45....or even 185/50R15(rare size) and stretch those bitches on 7inch rim! whahaha

You dont really need 205's on a light car like a corolla.. the problem is the wider the contact patch, the more drag you get from the friction. The more your tire will weigh, so going too big is counterproductive.

Size does really matter in this area, regardless what your girlfriend says in bed :p then again size matters there too... too big is counterproductive there too
I got +42 on my 16x7" rims, but I have to use spacers on the rears because they rub with my struts. You'd probably have to use spacers with the factory struts too, I have tokicos and they're a bit bigger in diameter than factory struts..

Theres no way I would put spacers in unless you had to dude.
If you go that route make sure the are machined for you specific application.
195/50 good road size near stock dia.
195/45 good size for acceleration and autoX for the better gearing but the 45 series sidewalls have an issue of letting go w/ less warning the the 50's.
I use SP 8000's 195/55 R14's for the extra gearing and so I can run the stock alloys at autoX in the street tire class.
IMO unless the rims that you want only come in 7" stay w/ the 6.5 fittment is easier and they generaly wieght less.
C-YA!!

i'm not on factory struts either
but +42 fits?!??! that's crazy..... do u know what stock offset is on the sr5 rims? and how big of a spacer are u using in the back? (i kind of dont want to use spacers at all )
