Question HELP! I"m confused about my alarm on my 02 Corolla!!!!

Okay, i got the car back in september and the remote is the kind that has the key in it. It has a lock button, and unlock button, and a green button. I have not figured out what the green button is for. I've tried hitting it and it does nothing, whether the alarm is set, not set, doors unlocked, or if the alarm has been set off. I can't seem to figure out at all what that green button does.

Here's the even more confusing thing. Since i've gotten the car, when i set my alarm/lock my doors, there has been no noise from the horn, the doors just lock and headlights come on for a few seconds. Well this morning, out of the blue it suddenly started making 3 short beeps when i lock/set the alarm. It keeps doing it now. I like it and wish it would have done that all along, but i'm concerned as to why???
Is there some type of key combination to toggle silent on/off that i must have accidentally hit on the remote? Or could this just only be some faulty wireing issue???

Any help you can offer would be great. There is nothing in the manual about it and the dealership where i got it don't seem to have a clue!!

My 02 Prizm just has a keyless entry, no alarm. I think the remote are different than the Toyota versions.

Is this a factory installed system, or an aftermarket one? My Dad's 93 Previa came with an aftermarket system which could have easily passed as a factory one, however there was a small switch mounted under the dash that changed it from silent arm/disarm to where it beeped the horn. Maybe yours has something similar and it got bumped? Just a thought...

i believe this is factory installed. It's the sport edition and on the window there's a sticker from toyotal that says "vehicle protection package", plus a friend of mine has a 04 camry with the same remote, xcept she can't figure out what the green button does either.

Read thru your owners manual real good, if you can't find anything I would go back to the dealer, ask the parts guy or service manager, not a salesman, just an idea.
