AE92 Exhaust piping design question

So I'm going to be welding together the piping for my AE92's exhaust in a couple of weeks and I'm trying to decide whether or not I should do the following:

1) Send the pipes to a machine shop and have them bend 2 of the main pipes to hit 3 angles.

2) Buy a bunch of pre-bent pipes and weld them together.

3)Use a series of flanges to hold together the various piping components.

4)Instead of using flanges for everything, use 2 sets of flanges and then weld everything else together.

Since this is my first time working with pipes by myself, I'm not quite sure how much the shops will charge for making the bends. I understand that the welds and flanges will create some turbulence in the exhaust flow, but I feel that using a series of flanges will make taking it off and putting it on a lot easier.

thanks for any input,
Gino

why put flanges on ? Weld everything ! Get the bends made as you need them ! Or you have the bends right under your car now, take out the old exhaust figure out what your going to need & then go for it !

Goodluck

Thanks,

if you have alot of bends it might be easier to get a pipe made up, if your gonna buy some bends and piece a system together use mandrel u bends as they are round through the bend and you can section them to the right angle, Personally i wouldn't weld from the manifold back solid, add maybe one set of flanges by the converter.

advice
- the closer the fit in joints the easier it will be to weld
- you can get flanges at most muffler shop because I know there a little hard to find
- if you have problems getting the welds to seal, get some pipe that just fits over, cut short 1" sections then slip them back over the welds and weld around each edge
- reroute a bit if possible, the fewer bends the better...
- As you fit pipe dont fully weld it, just tack it makes life easier if you have to make changes

lol ^ yea sorry i did include that.. make sure you keep a flex pipe in the system, from the flex pipe back you should weld everything lol
