Why do everyone snap at each other on these forums?
For those of you who out there who read these threads like if they were holy scriptures please take a step back and consider every person is different and not everyone is perfect like yourself. It seems that whenever someone is slightly off on details or incorrect on numbers, there are people out there hungry to attack them. They will let you know your wrong and show off saying they are smarter than you, sometimes insulting the person who is trying to help. These forums are to help each other out. They are not to criticize or insult each other or have some sort of intelligence game. I just read some old and new threads and there are hostile people out there just dropping stupid comments.
I know I just put myself in the crosshairs of these idiots...But I'm not going to respond to them so go ahead make fun of me if you wish
I heard something like this on the "Click and Clack" radio show once:
"In my youth I was brash and critical of others. My father said to me, 'Son, never criticize a man unless you have walked a mile in his shoes'.
'That way, if he hears you criticize him, you will be at least a mile away. And he won't be able to catch you because he won't be wearing any shoes.'"
Writers on internet culture say that many people are more abrupt and impolite in email and message postings than they are face-to-face because they don't get any direct feedback about their recipient's mood or intentions - or physical size!
i think the rudeness branches off of us older members because we get tired of people posting the same topics that have been beaten to death.. not many of the new members take the time to search & dig up all the great information TN has to offer..
just my 3 cents

there is some reasoning behind this, for some of the guys that have been around here for a while were the ones that have had to figure out everything and investigate everything to death and learn through trial and error, Toyota's aren't the easiest cars to tune and play with and generally its a little annoying that newb's come on here and want all the answers in there first thread. Also sometimes maybe it would be nice if people used the SEARCH funtion its there for a reason!

this forum, especially the corolla section is one of the nicest group of people out of all the forums i'm involved in. Sure maybe we've had our differences, but every forum is not perfect. Every forum out there has had at least 1 agrument of some sort i can tell you that.
I have to agree with nicesr5 on this. I'm on 3 other auto forums and have never seen (or participated in) arguments like I see here. I know I've said a few things I shouldn't, but that goes back to the topic. Anything I've posted that is of a negative tone is due to an attack of some sort on me. I've been called stupid and an idiot. Both of which are not true (Idon't think.) Anything I post I can back up with documentation of some sort or another. Those attacking me never do.
Maybe the moderators on the other forums nip it in the bud and stop it b4 it starts.
you see a lot of this on TN simply because it's a popular forum where everyone who doesn't know much and needs to find something out, will go and ask. Compare it to smaller, more specific forums where 90% of the members going there actually "know" their stuff and don't need to lash out at people for asking simple questions because they're a closer community.

So true!

i've been called basically a terrorist, asshole, bastard, you name it. I think you havent had it that bad, but its always been the person with <20 posts, most of the "high milers" seem to agree with me.
