reset check engine light?

Hi all-

My wife left the gas cap off her 2005 Corolla and we now have a check engine light that won't go out. Will this go away evevntually or is there a way to reset it?

Thanks!
Mark

My ex-witch oops I mean ex-wife had the same thing on her Pontiac. Knowing I wrench on cars she came by once and asked for me to take a look. I took the negative battery terminal off for like 10 minutes or less( I don't remember how much time we were arguing again) and it went away. I guess the car has some sort of sensor back there for dealers to make a quick $80 bucks. I don't know if this will work for you but hey you never know. Good luck

disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for about 2 minutes and reconnect. it will work.

it will go away by itself after 2-3 days for sure, if the gas cap was the thing at fault. the computer will keep checking for the problem, and if it doesn't see it (provided you put the gas cap back on :-D) and if its not there, the light will go off.

my cel came on last month but it was my stupid maf sensor..lol..ack.
