Intake

could someone point me to a good performance intake that's easy to install on a 4afe? i want it to be something that i can do myself in an afternoon cus' i can't afford to have a mechanic do it. and it would also be helpful if someone could point me to a decent general guide on how to install performance intakes. also, i have beed seeing ton this forum that a cai isn't a worthwhile mod and that a regular performance intake is good enough, is this true? thanx all

Theres a couple of options - I took a pod filter. Added it to the end of a cutoff Injen Short ram from a Civic and made myself a short ram.

The other option that is just as good is a K&N filter that is the size and shape of the A1280 that just plonks in. Just make sure you dont over oil it though...

um... i dont know why you would want to put any performance parts on a 4afe, but look on ebay they have a tone of intakes for the corolla, also you can make your own with some pvc piping and some rubber gromets and metal hose clamps.

If all I had was a YUGO I would be putting perfomance mods in it. Why some of us buy $600 cars and put $3000 in sound system with PS2 and body kits???.........I'm guilty of modding my 4AFE.

I wish I knew how to put pics on this forum I would of showed how I made mine. Under highway acceleration, my chk engine light would come on so I put the orig air box back. I added a K/N filter and made large holes throughout the lower part of the box with a Dremel. It kept the factory lookand makes that nice sound.

I have a 4afe and idk why the check engine light would go on unless your o2 sensor is messed up...i have a vibrant short ram intake and i got it for $60 and it took all of about 5 min to install itself. If you wanna do it right however, i also took the entire air box and all the tubing out aswell from under the battery...i had to take the front bumper off and some huge black plastic box out that did who knows what excapt add weight...that part took me like 2 hours and i was takeing my time...but if u just wanna get rid of the box and put a ram in itll take like 5 maybe 10 min if ur screws are a little rusty...

and for the dipshit that said who said why would u mod a 4afe...bc it lacks power...performance parts add power...a 4afe corolla or prizm needs to be moded more than a supra or a high perf engine...

You know I did change the O2 at @ 110K, now the car has 138K. I think the Temp sensor had somethin to do with it. Once I put the stock air box back on it went away. Probably the connector is bad. I dunno
