I was just wondering?!
I see most of Corolla Owners on this forum have AE86's! Is it because they're RWD? Or are there performance reasons!
Because from your meeting pictures I noticed that AE86's dominate the Corolla population?!

Respect

Camry, we didn't get an ae86 because of a freakign comic series. you better be joking, because thats an insult.
if you knew anything about the 86 other than a fictional anime, you'd understand why an 86 is such a good platform.

I'm sure the price of AE86's didn't go up because of a cartoon!
I'm asking for the actual reason people buy them!
Personally, I like the couple model more than the hatchback model. But I just wanted to know what makes these older model cars more popular than newer ones!?

Peace

yo, it is because they are RWD and based on the glorious 4a-ge engine. if the car wasn't rwd i think it would be a completely diff story.. then again, if the ae92 wasn't fwd the story would be even more different

heh ehe heh....

hi no i didnt mean u guys.. i meant the guys that live around my area.. some are actually in it cos of the performance... i love that car myself.. i had one b4 but it was totalled.. im not saying its just the cartoon.. its an import awakening.. its not just civics getting done up and dragging 1/4 miles now.. its also tracks ... yes track cars are very popular here in the west coast .. and im not saying the cartoons influenced ppl to go to the ae86 its the other ppl driving it in the tracks.. the cartoon shows overwhelmingly highspeed turns sometimes impossible to do.. but if u see someone in real life doing it.. man u just fall for the car... a lot of ppl here though ( mostly asian community in BC) are influenced by the movie i even saw one painted the same scheme with the japanese tofu thingy on the doors i mean that was bad!! but they are trying to do it like that as much as possible... i hope u guys dont get offended... if i did do so i apologize for that... hehee but that's my reason for saying wat i said previously...

It's kidna ironic that I bought an AE86 to stay away from the Honda Bandwagon...and now, seems that we're put into this "AE86" bandwagon...

This shows you know nothing about FOB mentality.

I bet you anything that Initial D had an effect on the price of that car going up. Simple economics. Supply and demand.

I bought my car 8 years ago way before the Initial D craze.

I just think it's a fun car to drive.
