Yes the 93 shifter rod thing should fit the 88 i have done the reverse making a short shifter.

I bought mine at toyota brand new ren, thanks...

New they have to come from out of north america, I picked up the last one that was in north america. Takes more than the 2 days it took to get mine, heard it's like a few weeks now

i orderd mine from toyota in september guess what its not here yet. the part is under code E or somthing meaning there's low supply of it but you can still get it. if its code F then its long gone.

so if you see one on ebay i'd snactch it up as you'd pay almost the same even at the dealer. only reason i didn't buy the one i saw on ebay a while back was because i had mine orderd already. so be warned it will take forever at toyota as it has to come from japan.

Eff that go custom! I chopped my shiftrod in my 93 and welded the threaded part back on top...wont come off, the shifter is shorter than any short shifter i could find for a 93-97, and i put a Sparco knob on it along with boot...saves money too
