so guys im getting my red corolla ae92 repainted. im broken between painting it red again or changing the color to black. (its originally a red car) so if i did paint it black with my stripped interior thats still red, would that look funny in your opinions. i'll also be running black wheels. i've owned 4 red cars and have always wanted a black car.

silver seems good but depending on the car it could make it look plain. i know black i very hard to take care of.

The only thing about red is that over time it fades. I had two red cars and both turned a very odd orangey red over the years. These were older cars from the late 80's though but I assume red still changes over time more than other colors.
Black is nice but all scratches and just about everything else shows up. Needs waxing at least once a year!

Silver is no doubt a nice choice if the painter can apply it right.
Red cars tend to fade, like the person said above, its also one of the colors thats hard to match later down the road...if you happen to get in an accident or add aftermarket body parts.
Black is hard to keep clean and shows more sins then the other colors, but it looks great when you can keep it clean.
How much effort/money are you willing to put at this? To be done right the door jams, etc. will need to be painted, when changing the cars color.
Be sure to keep whatever paint that is left over for certain circumstances...
a friend is painting it. i really don't care what the door jams look like as long as the exterior is black. however my interior is half stripped and will be staying red. so im not sure how funny it will look. he works at a body shop and priced me out at $500 for the labor.
my reasoning of going against red or any other color is i have the kouki front end with the big lights. the half of the light that was not a fog lamp or city light was painted amber (it almost looks like a r32 headlight). black seems to be the only color that will make it stand out and look right.
truthfully the only reason im only painting the exterior is because i can't afford to pay for the full interior, engine bay and everthing else full color change over. as you know i dished out most my money on perfromance of the car. i have way to much on order.
-whiteline front rear adj swaybars
-pro poly full bushing kit
-cusco 5-point chromoly roll bar
-cusco front strut towerbar
-cusco comp-s coilover
-rotora slotted rotors with goodridge ss lines and endless pads
-rs watanbe wheels
-front clip 20v ae111 6-speed
-corbeau pro seat and bracket
-fujistubo legilis r exhaust
so with all this on order im pretty much out of money. all these parts are not just bling factor i drive the car hard as $h!!t at the track. after campaining the mr2 for 2 seasons i've learned alot from it. so im applying all the knowlege there to the ae92. im aiming to hopefully destroy my old mr2's times.

i would say go with the black just cuz silveroutside and red inside is gonna look weird but black outside and red inside wont be too bad but it's true that silver is a nice color
but that's just my opinion
The silver is a nice choice. If you have a metal flake silver and a touch of black as either racing stripes or pin stripes that would make the silver stand out a bit more.
PLease dont half ass your paint if you dont have the money to do it right !! i work in Auto Body.. & i see this all the time (even my own car) if you dont paint the jams, that Red will stand out big time !! Honestly your not wasting that much more paint/clear just more labor & alot more masking.. But if you still insist on not doing so, at least paint the edges of the jams, so when you look at your car (with doors closed) you wont see any Original paint !

Ohh & as far as painting it Red... it should not Fade ! along with any other color unless the painter did a half as job on the clear coat ! most older red cars, can be buffed out As most of the fading is done by oxidation that has built up on top of the clear ! i honeslty wuldnt worry about it... again if you just want a cheap/nice paint job, Paint it the orignal color, this way you can save on not painting the jams, & under the hood...

Paint it grey primer like the ricers with the airplane wing on the back. Then leave it since you ran out of money for a real paint job on your new stereo system.
Seriously, unless the paint job is in very poor condition, why bother repainting it? There is a big difference in cost between a budget paint job and a high quality paint job. If you do it, paint it red again and try to match the original color. Painting all the cracks and hard to reach areas is difficult even with a spray gun. It will just match better this way and save some headaches.
