7A-FE headder, what injectors?

Hello all.
I usually hang out on the Tercel page and now will be hanging out around here also, since I have just become the proud owner of a bright red '92 Corolla sedan, (AE94) with massive radiator and exhaust leaks (and who knows what else wrong), that I won on E-bay for a pretty good price (I think).
I told the wife that the car is supposed to be for my son who is about to start driving(but I didn't tell her, only if it doesn't autocross better than my '89 Tercel with Paseo engine and suspension). If it does, then it is mine and he gets the Tercel.
I am thinking of putting in a 7A-FE, available at my local U-pull junk yard for the grand price of $175.00. I have been searching and reading through the posts and am pleased to see that I can use the 4A-FE wiring and ECU with the 7A engine.

The big question I have is, if I use an after-market intake and a headder with a 2" pipe all the way back, do I need to up-grade my injectors, and if so what injectors should I look for. (I am talking salvage yard specials, Celica, Camry, other)

I am also toying with the idea of later (when funds allow) getting a 4A-GE 20V, but am curious about how difficult it might be to get parts for these engines since I don't think these were sold in the US. Does anybody import parts for these regularly?

No an intake nor a header would cause any reason to swap injectors, there isnt gonna be such a drastic change in air consumption.

The man is right. The only real point to getting new injectors if if A) You go super or turbo, or B) If your injectors are gunked to the point that you cant clean them...I personally noticed a little worse fuel economy when i put my intake, headers, and exhaust in...but that is simply because when these cars come stock their built to be fuel efficiant and when you do i/h/e you change that fuel ratio from its setting by letting more air to come in...But no need for new injectors..will a 4a-ge fit in a paseo or tercel? Never heard of such a swap being done...?

umm it doesn't have to be forced induction to need larger injectors. A N/A motor can need them too but not for headers and intake.

i have the ebay 7afe header and the a/f's i see on my wideband are all within normal.

if you're going to swap a motor then please for the love of god get one with a complete harness and correct PCM. obd1 motor with an obd2 pcm or harness is a nightmare or any mismatch of the 3 is bad bad bad. the 4afe pcm CAN run the 7afe, but i wouldnt do it. it has different fuel and timing maps, the fuel maps arent that much different but i believe that the timeing curves are different between the 2 engines, since the 4afe and 7afe have much different torque curves.

Thanks for the responses guys. Much appreciated.

To Goooopher - The 4A-GE is planed for the Corolla, but there are several Tercels running around with them, though it requires a few inches of frame cutting to get clearance for the tranny or the pulleys, and custom mounts. Visit the Tercel page.

If I keep the Tercel for myself, I might just squeeze in a 20V.

Why I asked about the lnjectors is, I put the Paseo engine into my Tercel with a headder, 2" pipe and a cone filter to replace the original filter box. I found that It felt lean on accelleration and my plugs were white. I was just recently directed to a tercel site that listed various injectors, their resistance, "cc" output and what cars they can be found in, that fit the Paseo engine. I put in a set from a 4cyl Camry and have found my throttle response is a lot better, no more lean bog when I accellerate. I haven't had them in long enough to check the milage accurately but it seems to be about the same as before. The difference is from 185 cc/min to 200 cc/min.

Oh, the head gasket is shot on the Corolla. Water in the oil.

Time for an engine swap, I think.
