I hope you took the hub to a shop with a hydraulic press, to get the bearings out of the hub, and did not spend the day beating on it with a hammer..

and i also hope the old bearing wasn't really bad.... when they get really bad they actually damage the hub... the new bearings will press in, but won't seat properly and will destroy themselves quickly (sometimes in less than a month!)
