Hi
I am new here and I bought a 2007 corolla S about 3 weeks ago and have had it back to the dealer 2 times because the CEL stays on. First time they did the MAF TSB and then a oxy sensor and now they tell me they are going to change the ECU next. When we fill the gas tank, it takes a long time to start and runs bad for a couple of minutes and after that runs good.My question is, am I hurting the engine running it like this? Should I try and get another car or maybe ask for a longer wrnty? 700 miles on it and the CEL has been on for 680 of them. Sory my first post is long. Thanks.
i would try to get them to extended the warranty. and i have also heard they are having problems with the ECU from the cars (possible recall in the future). I wouldnt drive it unless you have to until they fix the problem.

I have an 07 corolla, i havnt had any probs like that really. What did they say when you told them all this, i mean why it is already jacked up? What other probs have you had?
everything else is fine except maybe mpg's are not what sticker says. They told me that it is OK to drive it until the new ECU comes in.
yea thats what nissan told me with my 02 Sentra SER. LOL LOL LOL LOL. Then ended up putting in an engine and renting me a car. The pre-cat in the header broke up and got ate into the engine in deceleration. Car only had 42,000 on it when that happened (still under warranty baby!). I sold it and then got a Neon, we dont even have to go there I've made some bad decisions in life

llllllllllemon. talk to a lawyer about the lemon law.
less than 2 years old have less than 30,000 miles and spent more than 30 hours in the shop under warranty work which have not been recalls, or maintence.

I don't know how the CEL works in the 2007 Corolla, but in one of my cars (2006 Pontiac) the CEL stays solidly lit for non-serious (typically emissions-related) problems but blinks for serious problems such as a misfire. I would check your owners manual about this. If your CEL works similarly, a non-blinking CEL is unlikely to hurt the engine.
yea toyota CEL work the same wat with the OBD II, a solid light ur OK get it checked out as soon as u can, blinking means a serious problem... get is checked yesterday

Well I took it back in for the new ECU and after getting it back, the light is off. I am still going to call the 800# and see if they will extend my wrnty. Thanks again for all the replies.
