Hi, I own a corolla xrs 2005 and i want to lower it of about 1.5 to 2.5 inch
I'm wondering what it the difference between a coilover and the lowering spring and which one do I need.
Is the spring easy to put or I will need to get it install by somebody else(professional)
And which brand is good. I read that Tein is good but what about skunkz and B&G
Thanks for any help
Ive ween TEINs on a silver XRS here at work, it looked good. I think that they would probably be better quality than most (that being said I've never owned either of them)
I have eGay coil overs with KYB struts on my turbo Tercel, I'm happy with them they handle great but they ride like crap and if I had a nicer car I probably would have went with somthing higher quality. I will also be using eGay's on my 97 Corolla.
thanks guys I think I'll go with tein s-Tech cuz they cost about 165$ and the coilover go for 1,XXX$
but is it easy to install or you need to go to the garage to get them install
Personally speaking, I ordered Dunlop race track tires (sold the stock Michelins for $300) and Tein H Techs. That should be more than sufficient in terms of road holding and handling.
I would recommend coil overs only if you want to do serious track racing and auto crossing. Otherwise, they make the car too stiff for daily driving (XRS stock is stiff as it is).

do urself a favor and go to the shop. my friend rented a spring compressor and nearly took his hand off getting one of the springs out (95 prelude)..
and weather can have an effect on coilovers or springs...if u live up north get the coilovers for the winter so ur car doesnt act like a plow by itself...
the springs are a simple install. Save yourself the cash and diy.
if you got a coilover set (coil overs and shocks) they would be a simple install to because you could assemble them before you put them in and would save the time of trying to reuse stock shocks (which you should always try to avoid )
