AE86 Tune up suggestions

Alright guys, so I just bought an 86 GTS today. The car is a lot of fun and runs great, but I want to take care of some basic maintance issues before modifying it. I have no idea when the engine was last tuned up, so figured I'd go ahead and do cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. Don't know about fuel filter as that may be a total PITA to do. But just wondering what brands I should go with for the ignition parts. I'll also try to do a coolant flush in the near future and bleed the brakes and throw on different pads. It has SS lines and Hawk Hp pads, but just doesnt stop as impressively as I'd expect, but then again maybe I'm just used to a car that nosedives when it's stopping with force, something this car hasn't shown any sign of so far.

I also notice some slight leakage from the diff, which isn't surprising for a 20 year old car, so I'm assuming it's just a seal at the end where the propeller shaff goes in? If so, anyone got a part # for this or know what else might be the culprit? Oh, and also noticing the typical distrubtor leaking, so wondering what's the part # on that gasket too for when I do the tune up. Thanks!

I do mine once a year, mainly springtime.

For Wires OEM Toyota (Sumitomo) are best but NGK makes a nice set also. Sparkplugs either NGK or Denso (OEM FTW!) I use the NGK platinums as I can get them from crappy tire when they go on sale.

As for the dizzy leak, go to kbox's site, he sells a lot of stuff for 4AGEs, he's in Canada but ships to the US.

Ren, thank you very much for the info. What brand do you recomend as far as cap and rotor? Also, are wires separate from the dizzy or inc. into it like with the 4afe? Oh, and my fuel mpg is def. suffering and I havent been too greedy with the throttle but I am noticing soot on the rear bumper above the exhaust. It's got a header, test pipe, and custom 2.25 inch piping. Should it leave deposits like that or think I'm running a bit rich? Smells like it from when I stand behind the car at idle. Not sure where to start with troubleshooting that or what's a common culprit with that. Only other engine mod is airbox was removed and foam filter attached at the end of the MAF sensor.

car probally needs an oxygen sensor, you should also replace the fuel filter. I always like to change the oil and filter on any new car i get twice in the first 1000-1500 miles just to give it a little clean up inside and send some of the oil to http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free_test_kit.html . they do an oil analysis and can tell you a lot about the car's engine for example how fast the oil is breaking down, if there is an foreign objects in the oil such as tiny metal shaving, rubber, antifreeze, gas. for $20 its kinda a cheap piece of mind.

I go to Toyota and buy their Cap and Rotor kits, I rather go OEM than any of the crappy brands.
