4AGE dizzy parts same through the years?

Ok, so with my work schedule I rarely get back home in time to try to stop by the closest Toyota dealership. I was going to order my dizzy cap and rotor online via the site trdparts4u.com. It's a Toyota dealership in Texas. Well online I wasnt being prompted on what engine so I figured I'd call and talk to someone. He gave me two part #s. They are:

19101-16040
19102-73180

The rotor # comes out for an 85-87 gts but cap is for a 91 gts. Will the cap still work? Dont want to order it then have to return it, or hell, maybe I'll be lucky and call the dealership on my break and see if they can set it aside for me till I get back from work. Also not sure if the price on the website is different than me going to a random dealer.

well they changed how the cap sits. The earlier ones had the wires pluged in horizontal where as the later one did it vertical

ok...... so there's a few things to note.....

technically, any 4age cap and rotor will work with any 4age...... as the internal positions for the cylinders on the caps didn't change....

HOWEVER.....

there are at least 3 variants, if not 4.......

the bigports in the ae82's and the ae86's have the standard upwards facing plug wires..... the some aw11's and ae92 gts's(depending on year and whether or not the cap is aftermarket) came with the wires that go in just about every direction.....

so, you would need the wires that match that cap....

now to confuse you more..... on the smallport motors, toyota changed 2 things with the plug wires..... they changed the valley cover on the motor itself (needing shorter plug wires, as they are not visible from the top)... and they also used the 'newer' 5mm small plug wires that have the special small wire adapters (cap end).

those are the 3.....

as far as i've seen, ALL rotors are the same on 4age's..... i'm pretty sure they're the same on the 4afe's, 7afe's, and some other engines as well.... pretty standard....

you do have some choices, though....

in my ae92 (smallport swap) i went with an ae82 cap (ie, wires stick up, and has the standard wire size), a 4age rotor, and then used some 'universal' wires for a 4 cylinder, then just covered the extra length with the valley cover..... i wouldn't reccommend doing that on a bigport unless you have the smallport cover, as water will fill in the valley and you'll start having problems.....
