AE86 4AC To 4AGEL Q's

Recently, the 4AC in my friend's '85 AE86 SR5 has deteriated to the point it barely runs and leaves a cloud of smoke everywhere it goes. Long story short: withheld information on the part of the seller. It's quickly entering the realm of paperweights.

At any rate, rather than completely rebuild the motor or put in a new one, I thought it would be wiser to put in a 4AGE. Unfortunately, the only one I can find available around here is out of a MK1 MR2. I read Medicine_Man's FAQ about the differences between longitudinal and transverse mounted 4AGEs and converting to a RWD setup, but there are still a few points I need clarified, if possible.

Does the 4AGEL bolt up to the 4AC's manual transmission?

The 4AC's mounts do fit?

What's the deal with the intake manifold? Does it face an impossible direction when oriented for a RWD? Are the only options a custom intake or a bigport JDM design?

Thanks in advance. I'm trying to get as much info as I can before I decide whether or not to pull the AW11's engine.

Well, the mounts SHOULD fit. I'm told the bellhousing is different between the SR5 and the GTS. Not sure how that affects things. As far as the intake mani goes, that's the least of your worries. Since the 4A-GE is EFI, you'll also need to run fuel return lines, and make sure the existing lines can handle the increased fuel pressure. Your best bet then would be to ditch the EFI and go with some sidedraft carbs.
