Extended Storage recommendations

I'm not going to be driving our '87 Corolla (actually Chevy Nova, but it's the same car) for the next 1 - 2 years and am wondering about how to keep it from deteriorating during that period. It'll be in a garage and could be started up from time to time, but won't have insurance on it so it can't be driven. It has the 1.6l engine and 5-spd manual transmission with about 230K miles.

I was planning on changing the oil and adding some gasoline stabilizer. Any suggestions for additional steps to take?
TIA.

get as low on fuel as possible..... and also add Stabil to the tank....

might also be a good idea to go buy a can of wd40 and spray the engine down every 6 months or so.... should help with slowing down rust/corrosion

I'd fill up the tank. Less moisture to condensate to the ceiling of the tank, thus less causes for rust.

definetly fill the gas tank up. if the gas tank is empty the gas tank will rust and that will suck ass and give you all sorts of problems before you figure out it is rusted. when you get back in 1-2 years you will have to drain that gas though, because it will be really shitty by then, and fill it with new gas.

except that gas that sits for a long time will varnish up in the tank..... and that's worse than condensation build up

Fresh oil change

What kind of surface is the car going to be over? If its concrete, put some floor dry under the car to help from condensation rising and sticking to the underside of the car.

Make sure you have good coolant in the car and be sure to test it to see how it stands.

Put the car on stable jack stand to help your tires from going flat.

Fill tank with gas and add stabil. Ive never had trouble with having gas in a tank for a year plus.

Disconnect battery.

Put ivory soap (bars) in the car (and glovebox), in the trunk and under the hood. This will prevent mices from making it there home. Also downy dryer sheets will work.

Put steel wool in the tailpipe, again with the mice.

Thats all I got for now
