How many of your Corollas have OIL BURNING problem?

I have had or encountered a couple of Toyota Corollas that burn oil. Oil tank has to be constant refilled, especially when it runs highway. Gas efficiency is really low.
Is this really commn for corolla or all toyotas?
Is there anyway to prevent it?

More information is needed. What year corolla? What trim line? How many miles? Any other problems? etc. etc. etc.

hey i can vouch for 93-97 corolla's especially the 1.8L or 7a-fe..

from my expirence the only preventative is to keep the oil changed with a quality oil and to keep the car maintained

its all a question of maintenence sooner or later its inevitable whether its 100,000 or 1,000,000

I had the problem until I changed rings and valve seals. That was now 1000 miles ago and not a drop of oil gone. That's a 93 1.6 with only 58k on it. Rings were all gummed up. I say go synthetic. It won't give you sticky rings and maintains seals better.

Don't get a 98 or 99, these tend to burn oil for some reason. 2000 and up are ok.

It seems like 1st gen engines have problems like the 93-95 have more issues than the 96-97's and the 98-99 have the majority of the problems leaving the 00-02 ok

We have a '98, and in each of the last 2 oil change intervals, I had to put in 1 quart of oil to top off. So yeah, we are definitely thinking of getting rid of this car soon for an '07 instead

From what I saw when in the oil change business, corollas only used oil if not changed regularly, either time/mileage wise. 3k or 3 months and you're good. Noticed this from 4afes to 1zzs. Can't vouch for 4ages though. Never had one come in and still getting used to mine. My 4afe in my 90 has 204k and doesnt leak or burn any between changes
