USA noninterference engine

Can you please comfirm that the 1997, 1.8L engine is a noninterference engine. Meaning there would be no damage caused by a timing belt break. Thank You!

93ToyCorolla,

Most of Toyota is noninterference engine. Go to www.gates.com and look it up under timing belt guide. They have all kinds of make and models and it is in PDF files. You can register and they will send you a big poster that you can hang it in your gargage for reference.
