Rear speaker brackets

I have two 6" Kenwood KFC-1677s that someone gave me for free. I would really like to install them but my issue is I cannot get the screw holes on the bracket to line up with the holes on the speaker it's self. Does a 6.5" fit w/o modification to the bracket or am I missing something? I'm sorry if this has been covered before but I didn't see anything that talked about fitting speakers to the brackets. I thought I'd ask here before I took the bracket to an audio store and asked them to show me something that would fit.

the rear speakers are 6.5" 's probably why it won't fit, you could probably dirll holes if you wanna use those speakers or make a custom bracket

Ok. I bought some MTX TDX6502s (6.5") from Tweeter today, brought them home, put them up against the bracket and they STILL don't fit. Either I'm just not a car audio guy or I need to make my own bracket. This is ridiculous. Do the Corollas have this problem?

show us a pic, does the speaker fit in the hole? if so, do the mounting holes line up? no, i've never heard of a rolla hjaving this problem, but ur dealing w/ a prism, which is the same mechanically but different physically., so there may be some proprietary mount, in which case u'll have to redrill holes or fabricate brackets.

The speaker mounting holes line up with the bracket mounting holes in only one place. This shows how the rest sit with that one hole lined up. In this first picture, you can see how the hole on the speaker doesn't line up with the bracket hole. The other two speaker mounting holes out of picture don't even sit on top of the bracket. They're hanging above open space.

This is the PITA bracket. There isn't really any space to drill new mounting holes in it.

I'm going to take the MTXs back because they measure across the same as the Kenwoods and there is no sense in paying $100 for them since I already have some the same size that were free. I am almost convinced GM did this on purpose, although I don't know why. I am going to Tweeter today to see what they say.

yea that's something stupid they did to the car, ur gonna have to fabricate/modify something. the holes are in the right spots, the brackets are just too long, you could probably redrill the holes in the right spot, looks like there's room...
