what would happen if...

what would happen if i took the distributor out of a 4a-fe and replaced it with a distributor from a 4a-f ? would my rolla's head asplode?

It's been awhile since I scrapped my 4AF sedan, but I seem to remember that the distributor is different than the 4AFE. I would wait to find one from the same engine. Try Kar Krushers or Pick-A-Part. Hell, my company has a yard in Calgary: Buck's Auto Parts. It's a pull-it-yourself yard, and our price list for all distributors is $25. It doesn't get much cheaper than that...

haha... call it a workaround. i'm trying to get my car started without replacing the efi ecu.

4A-FE ignition is controlled by the ecu
4A-F ignition is controlled mechanically.
