Serious issues, anyone got advice?

So, the starter went bad on my '92 corolla and my brother and his mechanic friend offered to replace it for me because I'm so busy. They did just that, and I started it up to go to school this morning and after having it in drive for about 30 seconds it completely died on me. Now it wont start at all, the radiator fan wont cut off unless you disconnect the battery, and the little dinging that happens when you leave your door open will stop if you push down the brake pedal, but then it comes right back. Any ideas what the hell they did to it?

Question

did they remove the battery cables before R&R of the starter? it is possible the alternator has been shorted..., and it could have blown the main fuse going to the battery,, ther eis a big fuse ont he positve side of the battery... otherwise,,,

where did they get the starter? was it new? rebuilt?

just some ideas..

it was rebuilt, we have another one now, but all of the fuses seem to be okay. ( I think they killed my poor little car )

I guess we'll try putting in another one next.

Thanks

I would say that you have very bad earths, clean up all the factory earths and maybe run some new ones.

Yeah, we've checked every fuse we can get our hands on. They're all fine.. supposedly they think it's the relays. But thanks for the advice!
