shifter bushing replacement?

ive had some slop in my shifter and my 91 corolla would get locked in a gear, i had been lubing the bushings but i feel the bushings are gone, i have since bought new bushing and not sure how to get the shift lever ball seat up to where i can get both of the bushing out. does anyone know the proceedure in detail?
